It’s been an interesting few weeks, with the fake Snoloha Buffett Concert T being the icing on the cake.  I’ve been doing some serious consulting, planning and researching for Snoloha long-term.

The vision is crystal clear.  Getting there…not so much.

It’s interesting, talking with others about the brand.  Some ‘get it’.  Others still look at me like I’m an idiot.  I’ve been told that I need to get out of my own way.  I’ve been told that I’ve become the artist that doesn’t want to dummy down his work for a commercial audience.

I can see both points.  But I’m not sure yet if I’m ready / willing to fully accept them.

Lionel Richie opened for Jimmy Buffet in Detroit.  Seems strange, right?!  Not really.  Lionel (first name basis) has a new album out called Tuskegee.  It’s a collaboration with a bunch of country music stars singing the Lionel Richie classics.  On it, Jimmy Buffett performs “All Night Long”.  So there’s the connection.

My favorite track is a version of “Easy” with Willie Nelson.  It’s one of those versions you can listen to over and over and over.  Does it get much better than Willie Nelson and a harmonica?

Why in the world
Would anybody put chains on me?
I’ve paid my dues to make it
Everybody wants me to be
What they want me to be
I’m not happy when I try to fake it

And that’s the line, “Everybody wants me to be, What they want me to be, I’m not happy when I try to fake it“.

These conversations have me doing some intense thinking about the brand, and what’s next.  It’s beyond clothing, I know that much.

That’s why I’m easy
I’m easy like Sunday morning
That’s why I’m easy
I’m easy like Sunday morning
