I’ve had a serious case of writer’s block lately.  I think it’s a combination of summer setting in and not enough time on the water yet.  However, 3 straight days of sailing and “Living on Snoloha Time” this weekend should help.

In the meantime, how about some random quotes and lyrics?

First, this comes from Men’s Health magazine (June 2012 issue…flip to page 64 for an article called “Debug your Brain”) and Dr. Gary Small, M.D. (professor of psychiatry and biobehavioral sciences at UCLA).

Technology can fry your mind.  The problem is that we get glued to our devices and forget we have a life offline”.

Part of the solution?  “Don’t snap a photo of every meal, or tweet about that concert while it’s happening. Consider enjoying a seminal experience fully before posting about it.  There’s always time to update your social network, but life is worth living in the moment first.”

That is good advice from Dr. Small, very similar to the advice I, Not-A-Dr. Call, would give…of course I call it ‘escapism’, or ‘Living on Snoloha Time‘.

It also reminds me of this Buffett lyric:

“You’re caught up in the internet
You think it’s such a great asset
But your wrong, wrong, wrong.

All that fiber optic gear
Still cannot take away the fear
Like an island song.”

Check out.  Don’t tweet it.  Ignore that alert.  Fight the urge to login.

Escape.
