Big Sky Baby!

Tuesday, September 25th, 2007

If you’ve never been to Big Sky, Montana…well, you should go. Big Sky Resort is not only a beautiful place to take a ski or snowboard vacation, but you’ll also be able to purchase Snoloha gear at The Outfitters store while you’re there!

So I’d like to welcome Big Sky to the growing list of Snoloha retailers. Hmmm…I guess this means I’ll need to take a business trip there, what a bummer, huh?

Feedback Wanted – Club Snoloha

Monday, September 24th, 2007

Okay you Snoloha customers, fans, and friends…I’m asking for some feedback and general level of interest regarding one of the current programs currently being put together – Club Snoloha.

What is it?

Club Snoloha will consist of Snoloha fans and customers who enjoy living the Snoloha lifestyle, “Spreadinging the love”, and helping grow the brand from a grass roots perspective. So if you enjoy – time on the water, the beach, or the snow, good tunes, an ice-cold beverage, or getting lost in a foreign town, and simply have an appreciation for life somewhere between the islands and the arctic, then your eligible!

Now, it is still under development. The webpage is a rough draft, and we are not ready to launch it quite yet. So what I’d like to do is keep those interested in the loop as to the “official” launch, and of course send out all the necessary swag once it’s ready. G’ahead, and take a look to see what you think, and anyone who may be interested, please send an email to ClubSnoloha@snoloha.com. Oh yea, it even has its own email address!

Be sure to pass this along to anyone you think that may be interested.

Thanks for the support!

Random Quote / Lyrics

Saturday, September 22nd, 2007

I was just listening to a little Jim Hoehn while doing some computer work, and wanted to share this line:

“Open your eyes and you might be surprised, that your life is a room with a view.”

Random Quotes / Thoughts

Thursday, September 20th, 2007

“We have no patent on anything we do and anything we do can be copied by anyone else. But you can’t copy the heart and the soul and the conscience of the company.”

-Howard Schultz, Chairman of Starbucks

I really enjoyed reading this quote. I get so irritated when I see one company ripping off another just to try and make a buck by copying their success.

You see it all the time with my now second favorite brand (Snoloha is first, of course), Life is good. The 2 brothers who started this great company have worked extremely hard and have been through the ups and downs of starting a business and finding their way in the market. And now that they have reached a significant level of success, there seem to be quite a few rip-offs out there trying to hitch their wagon to the Life is good star. Laziness.

But as Mr. Schultz says, “you can’t copy the heart and the soul and the conscience of the company”. And that is what separates Life is good from the copycats. They are running a marathon to do good in the world over the course of many years, and not a short sprint to make a quick buck.

Someday, there may be Snoloha copycats out there. But they will not be able to even come close to copying the heart, and the soul, and the conscience of the company.

Been meaning to post this one.

While watching ESPN last weekend, Lou Holtz had a great quote as he was discussing the beating that Notre Dame took from Michigan.

He looked directly into the camera and said:

“The thing to remember is this – Things are never as bad as they seem. Things are never as good as they seem. But somewhere in between lies the reality.”

That’s a great quote…I hope I got it right Coach!

Welcome Lee’s Adventure Sports

Tuesday, September 18th, 2007

I’d like to welcome Lee’s Adventure Sports to the growing family of Snoloha retailers. If you live in the Kalamazoo area of southwest Michigan, be sure to swing in and check ‘em out.

Bag of Toys

Tuesday, September 18th, 2007

Very cool band that I was just turned onto after listening to the latest TropiCast episode.

They are called Bag of Toys, and are based out of northern California. I listened to a few of the samples they have on their site. I’m very far from being a music critic, nor do I consider myself any type of expert on music. I just know what I like. But I’d say these guys remind me of a cross between Sublime & Jack Johnson. I don’t know…give ‘em a listen a let me know what you think.

The song on TropiCast is called “California”:

“California’s got the sunshine, year round, cheap wine
Fresh waves / Hot babes, Lather on the sunscreen
Warm days, Cool nights, Everything is just right
Soft Sand, last tan, sleepin’ on the rooftop”

Ah Yes, The Marina Life…

Monday, September 17th, 2007

With the last week of summer upon us, it’s hard not to reflect, especially how it’s suddenly passed us by in the blink of an eye. One of my memorable moments took place in August at the Elk Rapids Harbor Days Festival. While hanging out in the marina and walking the docks, we happened upon a couple of guys playing a little Steve Earl with an acoustic guitar and a mandolin. I mean, how cool is that? Sipping on a cold-one while listening to a mandolin on a boat dock?

The marina life is quite amazing. There is a sense of community among the boaters. They enjoy life one cook-out at a time. One boat drink at a time. One cruise at a time.

In the morning, there is hot coffee and a rising sun. In the evenings, there is music and tiki lights. And in between, there is throwing off the lines, taking a cruise, maybe a little swimming, or perhaps some fishing. Or, it’s as simple as staying in the slip, reading a good book, or firing up the grill and the blender.

It’s very easy to become a fan of this lifestyle. I’m sold!
