Leadership Lessons from the Tropics – Part 2

Friday, April 27th, 2007

From Part 2 of a series by Patty Vogan of Entrepreneur.com. Here is the previous entry, in case you missed it.

“Here’s where another lesson–and the “fortunate” part of the story–comes in: Never forget that a smile is a universal tool. A kind, honest smile speaks volumes in any language. So I smiled at the Tongan police, unwrapped the brown packages, handed each one of them a bottle of wine and said in my best broken Tongan, “Gift for you.” Then I smiled again. Never underestimate the power of a smile; it kept me out of jail.”

Jimmy Buffett License to Chill
From the “License To Chill” album:

“Life is complicated with its
Ifs and ands and buts
It’s alright to be crazy,
Just don’t let it drive you nuts”

-Jimmy Buffett, “Simply Complicated”

Snapshots & Scenery Winner

Wednesday, April 25th, 2007

This month we had to pick two winners – Dave & Kristen. After a recent trip to New Zealand, they were kind enough to take some great photos while sporting their Snoloha gear, and their photo album is this month’s Snapshots & Scenery winner.

Thanks to everyone for contributing the great photos. Each month it is getting harder to pick a winner. Remember, if you want a chance to win Snoloha gear, visit the gallery, register, and upload!

Your Own Tropical Island

Palm Tree Hammock

Andy points us to this – Your own tropical island.

For $8,240.00, the hammock comes with a pillow and drink caddy and the palm trees have an internal dual-control mist mechanism to simulate a misty ocean breeze.

Throw on a little Radio Margaritaville, grab an ice-cold beverage, turn off the cell phone, lose the watch, and pretend you’re on “island time”.

Thanks Andy.

Jake Shimabukuro

Friday, April 13th, 2007

Check this out. It is absolutely amazing to watch and listen to.

For those Jimmy Buffett fans out there, you are probably already familiar with Jake Shimabukuro. He is regarded as one of the world’s top ukulele musicians and has performed numerous time with Buffett.

This is Jake playing George Harrison’s “While My Guitar Gently Weeps”.
