Snoloha at MRA Winter Market

Monday, February 12th, 2007

Since Snoloha will be attending the MRA show in Lansing this week, posting may be a bit light. But we will do our best.

So for now,

“Yesterday’s over my shoulder

So I can’t look back for too long

There’s just too much for see waiting in front of me

And don’t think that I can go wrong.”

Jamaica Dogsled Team

Jamaica Dogsled TeamIf you haven’t seen or heard of The Jamaica Dogled Team, take a moment to visit the site and read their story. Here is a taste:

“You gotta be kidding! Who in his right mind would even think of starting a Jamaica Dogsled Team in a country with no snow. You gotta wonder what the creator of this wild idea was smoking. That is exactly what everyone including the family of the founder were saying. “Dad, you’ve really lost it this time”.

Meet Danny Melville our illustrious leader and founder (not exactly your normal, everyday business guy). His Jamaica Dogsled team is a heart warming tale of tails that includes Jimmy Buffett, Scotland, Minnesota and more.

Danny was shopping for dune buggies for his Jamaican adventure tour business in Edmonton, Canada when he tripped over this “thing”, a metal frame with wheels, in the corner of a fabrication shop. He was told it was a dog sled with wheels so it could be used in the summer when there was no snow.”

Bob Marley

.

In honor of his birthday, I thought it appropriate to share some Bob Marley lyrics:

“Wake Up and Live”

“Wake up and live, y’all,
Wake up and live!
Wake up and live now!
Wake up and live!

Life is one big road with lots of signs,
So when you riding through the ruts, don’t you complicate your mind:
Flee from hate, mischief and jealousy!
Don’t bury your thoughts; put your vision to reality, yeah!”

I love that line, “put your vision to reality”.

Snapshots & Scenery

Snow Covered MountainOkay, if you haven’t registered on the Snapshots & Scenery gallery, now is a good time to do so.

We will be choosing the next winner on February 19th.  With all the crazy weather we’ve seen recently, there is bound to be some great photo opportunities out there.

Last month’s winner was Andy Baumann.  Andy won a Snoloha hoodie for his Crater Lake photo.

We haven’t determined this month’s prize yet, but it will be a Snoloha item of some sort.

There has been new albums added recently.  Be sure to check ‘em all out, especially Captain Dave as Santa Claus hanging out at Foxy’s on the island of Jost Van Dyke.

Snoloha at the Women’s Winter Tour

Women's Winter Tour
Well, the Women’s Winter Tour has come and gone. It was an extremely cold weekend, but that didn’t stop the event from being a success. According to event organizer, Kaye Krapohl, about 1,000 women registered for the tour.

Although the frigid temps may have kept some from coming out, it didn’t stop those that did come out from having a good time.

Check out these ladies. Talk about the Snoloha lifestyle. It was below zero temps, but that didn’t stop them from bringing a little Jimmy Buffett, beach flavor to the event.

Ah yes, Snoloha life at it’s best.

We were able to get some great exposure for the Snoloha brand. Tim Brick, from Brick Wheels, was the emcee and did a wonderful job not only playing some good music, but also promoting Snoloha and the freebies that we brought along. Thanks again, Tim.

Women's Tubbs SnowShoes
Check out the Women’s Winter Tour all weekend long at Crystal Mountain.

On Sunday, Snoloha will be at the event working along side one of the event sponsors, Tubbs Snowshoes.

It is going to be cold, so bundle up and come on out and enjoy the snow!

On their website, the Women’s Winter Tour is speaking the Snoloha language,

“Our own ISLAND in the Snow!

We have created an oasis away from the base of the downhill area. A wonderful tent city is being created with all the activites located in one location. No more walking between buildings, and the food!”

Proceeds benefit Madeleine’s House in Traverse City, The Women’s Resource Center and the Zonta House of Benzie.

Over $70,000 has been raised for the local charities over the last 8 years.
Over $120,000 donated to charities through combined local and national locations.
