A couple weeks ago I received an email from a fellow small business and brand owner.  It was from Matt and his new sandal company from  Minneapolis, Minnesota called Bokos. I get a decent amount of inquiries and solicitations and most of them are ignorable. This one was different, though.  It had a 'real' element to it.  And the name intrigued me.  And I really liked the language used to describe the sandals, "From your gym bag

Eventually, it's going to be t-shirt weather.  Eventually. And when t-shirt weather finally arrives, someday, don't be left out in the warmth without a Snoloha Castaway T for only $10.00. These shirts really need a new home.  They need someone to care for them.  Someone to wash and dry them.  Maybe even give them a nice fold every once in a while.  And most importantly, someone who will listen to them. So if you're looking

Life is hectic.  That's why we all need escapism.  That's why we need Snoloha. On a chilly Wednesday afternoon as another busy day was 'trying' to wind down we managed to escape out of the marina and spend a little time flying sail on the Catalina 309 "Adele Lina" getting her ready for a charter this coming weekend. It really was work related.  Really, it was. Leaving land behind, raising (in this case unfurling) sails,

Seriously, Don't Do it! Wow...Am I now using the same reverse psychology tactics in marketing that I use with my daughter?! Pathetic, I know. Seriously though, I wouldn't order this t-shirt...if you have any other t-shirts that you'll feel bad about never wearing again. These are by far the most comfortable Snoloha t-shirts that have been released. And they are pretty true to size. They don't fit like a box, nor do they make you

First Snoloha and Bay Breeze teamed up to launch Unsalted Sailing -- Events and Merchandising.  In order to extend the Unsalted Sailing reach we decided to also launch the Unsalted Sailing 'digital' Magazine.  Yes, 'digital', as in for your tablet, mobile device, laptop and desktop.  We have no interest, nor do we have the capital necessary, for a print edition -- that sounds painful. Why are we doing this?  Because we either suffer from serial

It's hard to turn on the TV these days...unless there's a good game on, or a Seinfeld episode. Everything seems to be a reality based contest show.  And they are unwatchable. Mostly, I think I just don't have any patience or sympathy for many of these 'contestants' looking to make it big overnight.  The 16 year old high school student whose lifelong dream is to be a singer.  Lifelong dream?  You're 16!  First you need

It's true.  I'm a horrible business owner. Why? I don't network (online social media excluded, which is a different conversation) and I rarely take advice. I'd like to be better at both, but I'm not sure if I have any interest.  And that's a horrible attitude, I know it is.  My doctor once said to me that I have a tremendous sense of self-realization...seriously, she said that. I have no interest in business after hours

Making room for NEW Snoloha gear...which means unloading some 'older' stuff.  I love these shirts, but as they say..."If you love something, let it go. If it returns, it was always yours. If it doesn't, it never was." Uh...wait a minute.  I don't want them back, I want you to keep them. What I'm trying to say is these shirts need a new home, and you need a new shirt. They are only $10.00! Yes,

It's the first day of Spring, and it continues to snow here in northern Michigan. I think it's great!  I know there are plenty of folks who want it to end, but I figure that since it's still March it might as well be snowing.  This means there's still time for a few more  snowboard trips to Boyne Mountain. This extended snowfall is great for the ski hills, xc trails, snowshoe trails...and when it's system

Living on Snoloha Time 10 Years Ago at Bolongo Bay. "It was during this very moment under the star encrusted Caribbean sky that I felt a sensation of happiness for the first time in a very long time.  Then I said aloud, to no one in particular except maybe a nosey iguana, "everything's gonna be alright".  And I believed it.  At that very moment with Corona's circulating through my body and the salt air sticking

There's more to Boyne Mountain than snowboarding! It's true.  I finally found out for myself.  After twenty years of going to 'the Mountain' snowboarding, I spent the entire weekend there without my board. My wife and I dropped the little one off and 'Grammy and Pappa's' house and headed to Boyne Mountain for a little R&R.  We snowshoed, ate, hot-tubbed, went on a horse drawn carriage ride, drank, sat in the sun, watched the ducks,
