It's great having a 3 year old daughter...you are able to re-visit things from childhood that you otherwise may never do. Every parent and every child goes through the Dr. Seuss stage, I assume anyway. These days there's a new appreciation for Theodor Seuss Geisel's work.  I look at from not only a  child and parent's perspective...but from a brand's perspective. If you're working on your own brand, or just need some inspiration in your

I'm working through some steps that I thought I'd share with you. Beginning this weekend, the website will be undergoing some serious housekeeping.  I'm looking forward to it. Here's the deal: By the end of the day Friday, there will be a handful of products, including the Zip Hoodies for $28 that you get a FREE t-shirt with purchase, that are coming off the site.  At that point, everything left on the site will be

If you haven't read it yet, you should - "We Are All Weird" by Seth Godin. "I'm still sort of amazed at how deeply ingrained our antipathy to this word is. It makes audiences a little nervous when I talk about the death of normal and the rise of weird. And it makes many people uncomfortable to describe their habits as a bit weird. The thing is, though, that the only prospects you care about,

I've still got a handful of these lightweight zip hoodies in-stock.  They were a closeout deal that we jumped on.  So instead of a $50 zip hoodie, I was able to pass on the savings to you (I know, I'm such a nice guy). Not only can you buy a Snoloha Zippie for $28.00...but I'll also throw in a FREE Snoloha t-shirt with your order. If you hem-and-haw between sizes…go with the larger size on

Don't call him a 'mascot', he doesn't appreciate being called that.  You can call him 'the voice' of Snoloha, he will accept that.  But really, he prefers to just be called 'SnoMon'. When asked to describe SnoMon, you'll hear something like this -- He's comfortable in his own snow.  Care-free, laid-back and happy-go-lucky.  He's got an adventurous curiosity about him, he's easily amused, and has a chameleon like ability to adapt to any situation...always cool, calm

One of the things that I love most about this brand is that is allows me to daydream.  And most of the time I don't even realize that's what I'm doing. A good friend of mine, during one of our many business conversations over cold ones (which is typically when everything gets figured out...at least temporarily), asked me, with the full knowledge of my goal to emulate what Jimmy Buffett has done with his Margaritaville

One of the most frustrating things for me is getting ideas out of my head and accurately sharing them with the world.  And yes, there's a lot of other stuff going on in my head...which is probably best left in there anyway! One of the original ideas behind Snoloha was the introduction of SnoMon, as seen here. It was a pretty simple idea...a snowman chillin' in a hammock, between a couple of palm trees.  It

But you'll have to stay tuned to see in what capacity... He's a little older now, edgier, & cool as you-know-what. He's a little overweight, but wears it well with a cold one nearby. He enjoys having a good time, in a respectable "low-key" way. He is effortlessly laid-back just doing what he does…. which is simply being

For any regular blog readers, you know I've gone back-and-forth with the idea of a Snoloha retail store.  I still think it's a good idea (most of the time)...with the right location.  But therein lies the problem.  Location.  Most retailers in this area find their home on Front St. in downtown Traverse City.  And while I love downtown and Front St., it is simply not the right spot for a Snoloha store.  In fact, a

That should be the answer you give when someone asks you about retirement.  "Retire from what?" Sure, it could be the dreamer in me.  But, it's entirely possible.  And yes, it all goes back to my obsession with human-beings and why we do what we do when it comes to work and career choices (not including those circumstances when life doesn't give you much of a choice.  I get that.). There are people all around

Airports and airline travel may be about as opposite from the Snoloha escapism mindset as you can get.  Unfortunately, in order to escape you may need to fly. I had to fly recently.  It was a complete nightmare.  Take away the security checks, delays, the cancellation, more delays, the service and the baggage that didn't show up...and it's still the opposite of what Snoloha stands for. It's a 'hurry and wait' atmosphere.  Everyone is jockying
